How To :: Colour Glass Jars

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Remember back in the olden days when I was Mrs Loved To Craft? Well, the other day she was back! back with a painty-inspired-by-pinterest venom!

How To Colour Glass Jars

Now, before all you DIY goddesses throw down your PVA in anger, yes, I know there is more than one way to colour glass jars and I think all of them are lovely. This way however, is with acrylic paint and is beyond simple. I like simple.

Gather your clean, dry glass jars.

Generously pour acrylic paint (I bought mine from Hobbycraft) into the bottom and if you can, round the edges INSIDE.

Roll/twist the jar about to encourage paint to coat the inside completely.

On newspaper or a surface you're happy to ruin, leave the jars upside down to finish the inner coating and let the excess paint drain out.

Leave to dry and add contents.

Voila!

Do you think this is something you'll try? Think of the possibilities!!

How To Follow A Blog

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Since running THIS on my YouTube Channel, I have had an inbox full of emails and messages asking me how to follow a blog.

At first I started replying individually, but then I realised this could well be a question a lot of people had and thought it might be beneficial for everyone if I wrote a post on it and showed you how. For those that already know, stop reading! This post will be pretty dull for you!! Haha.

Before I do a step by step dealio, I must tell you the most important thing. Following/Subscribing to (both the same) blog is FREE. A lot of people ask me how much it costs because I suppose it does sound like something you need to pay for, but it isn't. Sprinkle of Glitter is entirely free. If you want to send me great wads of cash, please do, but really, there is no need ;)

OOooh look at me being all technical and print screening into paint hahaha. This swanky image is to start you off. Look to the right of this screen. Can you see the icon called 'beauties' and the button saying 'Join this site'? Click it!

This is what will pop up. Very unscary. Naturally, it is your choice, but the majority of folk will want to click 'google' at this point.

Most people nowadays have a Google account. You sign in to YouTube with it, you use if for Google Plus, Google Analytics, all sorts of things. Pop you details in and click on the 'sign in' box.

At this point I couldn't screenshot anymore because rather sadly, I already follow my own blog....lame. All that will happen is it will ask if you are sure you'd like to follow, and if you are, you say 'Yeah Baby', and if you're not, you just wasted 25 seconds of your own life. Woops.

As I said above, following blogs is entirely FREE. Free as a bird. Big. Fat. No. Money. At. All. FREE! You can follow follow as many blogs as you like and it means that when you sign into blogger (if you choose to), you will have your 'reading list' updated as and when your favourite blogs release a new post. Hurrah! Win win for everybody.

Some blogs that I am soooo pleased to be subscribed to (aside from my own ahaha) are:

Zoella - Possibly the world's greatest chum. She might be teeny but she has a mighty big heart and will go insane lengths for her pals. I know it's cheesetastic, but I really don't know what I would have done without her this past year. Life has been great, don't get me wrong, but there have been some fairly overwhelming moments and Zoe has always been there. From setting up a business together (check out the 'shop' tab up top), to laughing our heads off over a cocktail, to her saying, 'leave the baby with me, go to the salon and take an hour off', she's been a good egg and I luffs her. I'm sure you already read her blog, but I had a little outburst of emotion there. Someone hand me a tissue!!

A Thrifty Mrs - Mrs Thrifty is another of life's good eggs. We've only been real friends (as opposed to blog friends haha) for a few months but I tell you what, she's a corker of a gal! She makes me chuckle on a daily basis and if ever you have a money or household question, she's your lady. There is nothing she doesn't know about homey things- I bet her Husband is one happy man!

Beauty Crush - Sammi is cool. That's rather an understatement. I profess to know very little about fashion and trends (if it's pink and fits then I'm happy) but she really does. Whenever we meet up I know I'm going to have a good time because she's as suceptable to delerium as me! Ahahaha!

Fleur de Force - Fleur is the epitome of suave. Every time I see her she looks gorgeous, is unflustered and even after a really bad fall in London (I heard a crunch!!) she just got up, dusted herself down and carried on- in heels!! Kudos to Fleurchummy. She made such a fuss of me for my birthday last month and I was really touched. Ooer.

Meek -n- Mild - Shirley is just how she looks and sounds. Super sweet and one of those people who is kind all the way through. Her blog makes me feel really tranquil and also inspires me to make the most of my wardrobe. (I'm not sure why blogger won't let her be in pink text! One of life's great mysteries.)

Color Me Katie - I don't know Katie as a human being, but I LOVE her blog. I'm not even going to talk about her too much, just trust me, you want to follow her blog. Your eyeballs will thank you/

There are tonnes and tonnes of other blogs that I heart, and if you like, I could do another post on them and point you in their direction? Or do you prefer to find them yourself? Let me know!

I really hope this was useful to you and if you have any other questions, do let me know.

Lou's How To's :: Birthday Wreath

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

A couple of days ago I instagrammed ('Sprinkleofglitr') a picture of something I had made for Baby Glitter and I had so much interest in it, that I thought I would write a blog post for you all.

This is the image in question. It is a Birthday Wreath made for Baby Glitter's upcoming 1st Birthday Party and it was beyond easy to make.

My friend Marie in America had made one for her little girl's birthday bash and I instantly fell in love and decided to make my own. You can check her video out HERE to see all her gorgeous party decor.

I shall give you a step by step and ebay links for crafty bits if you like to order online. Alternatively, you could pop along to your local craft store. I just like ebay because it's easy, speedy and paypal friendly- ohhh yeaaah!

Steppy by Steppy's:

1. Get yourself a polystyrene ring, a ball of wool in whichever colour you prefer, about 50cm (to be on the safe side- you may have excess) of ribbon in whichever colour you prefer, stick on gems, scissors and most fun of all, embellishments!! You can go wild with whatever you would like, but I chose cupcakes to give it a birthday feel.

2. Wrap the wool around the ring. For a more full and plush appearance, wrap round a couple of times. Warning- this takes time! Sit yourself in front of a film and just enjoy the easy task and feel satisfied watching it slowly fill up.

3. Wrap the ribbon round the ring to give it a candy cane spiral effect. Tie a bow and loop at the top so that you will be able to hang it from a hook.

4. Add the embellishments in any pattern or design.

5. Add the stick on gems in any pattern or design.

6. Stand back smugly in the knowledge that you just made a Birthday Wreath.

Seriously, this is an easy peasy lemon squeezy project and could be adapted for any occasion. How nice would an Autumnul wreath look? Mmmmm, I love Autumn.

I plan on displaying this near Baby Glitter's highchair at her party so that it is in a lot of her photographs and then afterwards I will hang it in her bedroom. Maybe we'll get it out every year!

If simple pimple baby projects are your bag, last year I wrote a post on customising baby clothes with pens and waaaayyy back in 2009 in my first ever month of blogging, I wrote a post on making a tutu for a barbie doll. Craft-tastic!

Is this something you might try? Do you think it will make a unique decoration?

How To :: Graduated Glitter Nails

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

If, like me, you love nail varnish and like to have pretty little paws that add a splash of colour or a twinkle of glitter to your overall look, then this will be the post for you!

For the longest time I've drooled over other people's beautiful nail art blog posts and looked longingly at the tutorial videos that made intricate details and swirly designs look oh-so-easy.

Sadly for me, I just don't have that steady a hand and my nails end up looking like a dog's dinner. *Sigh*.

So with all that in mind, imagine my joy to find a sparkly nail art technique that is so easy even me and my sausage fingers can pull off! I give you- Graduated Glitter Nails.

How do I do this snazzy nail look on my own pinkies?

1. Do whatever nail prep you usually do.
2. Pick a colour and paint it evenly all over the nail.
3. Take glitter polish and paint a thin coat from about 3/4 of the way up to the tip and leave to dry.
4. As number 3 but from about 1/2 way up to the tip and leave to dry.
5. As number 3&4 but from 1/4 of the way up and leave to dry.
6. Apply top coat.

Simples.

My Tips for Top Talons:

♥ If you are new to this technique, choose a lighter base colour as it is more forgiving on any heavy handedness glitter-wise. Currently I'm wearing a lilac with silver glitter and it looks amazing. I did take a snap but my hands are suffering in this cold weather at the mo, so I thought best not to share.

♥ Be gentle with the glitter, the aim is to build it up sloooowwwllyyy.

♥ Be aware that this is a lot of polish on you nails, especially at the tips. I have found this has led to easier chipping. Not a problem but if you're going out Saturday night, don't apply on a Wednesday and expect them to still look perfecto. Plan it properly.

I absolutely adore this look. It gives you a chance to use glitter in a more sophisticated way and I'm looking forward to experimenting with more colours. For those that are interested, the colours in in my fancy demo above are OPI 'We have a purple' and OPI 'Spark de Triomphe'. I buy my nail wheels for £1.99 in packs of 10, from this ebay store.

Is this a nail method you'd try?
