Bye Bye Baby

Aloha Bloggerinos!

I am one happy chappy this evening because I have fiinnaaaaaaallllllly finished some products! I have a terrible habit of buying a lovely product, using half of it, getting bored and then buying something else. Naughty naughty naughty!

Well chummies, hurrah! I stuck with something. I finished LUSH Snow Fairy Shower Gel and LUSH American Dream Conditioner. I used snow Fairy VERY sparingly because it was limited edition but fear not, I have another bottle left to use. American Dream is on my shopping list to buy some more of, so I shall buy this guilt free.

Snow Fairy is a deliciously sweet pink shower (and hair) gel with little iridescent sprinkles and American Dream is a fantastically creamy vanilla conditioner (see previous reviews for more info).
Have you tried either or these?

Waste Not Want Not

Aloha Bloggerinos,

As I may have mentioned on my youtube CHANNEL (woop), I am trying to find ways to make the most of my lovely things and save some pennies. I'm actually trying to use up some of my products before I buy new varieties! Wowzas!

So, when I realised that trying to use my Boots No.7 Skin Illuminator was about as fruitless as explaining quantum physics to the cat, I decided to call it a day. I would squeeze a bit and nothing, squeeze a bit harder and still nothing, squeeze really quite hard and still nothing. In anger I would then squeeze really bloody hard and voila- great big highlighter mess! Gargh!!

I was going to through it away but couldn't bring myself to being as there was clearly lots left and it cost me over £10 (£3 is my wastage threshold, so a tenner is a no-no!) I decided to embark on a salvage mission. I found a clean pot, which was an old Lush pot that I was saving as part of their "bring back 5 and get a free face mask" scheme, snipped the top of the tube and satisfyingly watched it all ooze into it's new home.

It was a sad day for the pretty packaging and little brush it came with but I have a looottt of highlighter there- golden summer glimmer, here I come!!

Does anyone else depot their products to make the most of them? :)

Lou's Reviews- LUSH Haircare

Aloha Bloggerinos,

If you cast your minds back a few months ago,  you might remember the magical day that I was sent a great big box of Lush products to try? Well, I promised I would do reviews and I know I haven't done them all yet but that's because 1) I like to try products out for a while before I really think I've got to grips with them and 2) Variety is the spice of life and I didn't want to go Lush crazy and not give anything else a look in.

So, this will be my review of Rehab Liquid Shampoo and American Cream Conditioner.

Rehab: I am always very nervous of switching my shampoos because new shampoos seem to make my scalp go all flakey (how delightful) and then I look like Mrs Scab Head which is obviously not ideal! Even T-Gel bloomin' well does this! Anyway, I nervously tried Rehab Shampoo, and to my surprise this worked a treat! It smells almost mentholly, although the website kindly informed that it has olive, jojoba and almond oil in it to restore strength and soften the follicles, as well as enzymic papaya to cleanse, so I'm not sure where I got the menthol scent from.

The colour is yellowy (similar to my fav Lush shower gel, Bohemian) and has a VERY runny consistency so you have to do the bottle to hand to hair maneuver fairly quickly to prevent spilling it all over the shower tray.

I feel like this gives a really "squeaky" clean effect which is good if you have used a lot of hair products in the last couple of days, but if I haven't I will use my regular shampoo, whatever it may be, because it's good to alternate.

I think this shampoo is perfect for a BIG wash when you have plenty of time to truely enjoy it and the refreshing mystery menthol scent and I will repurchase it when it runs out.

This product is £14.50 for the largest bottle (500g) and I think considering a little goes a long way, that this is reasonable by Lush standards.

American Cream: Rave rave rave! This conditioner is by far one of the best conditioners I have ever used, and being a conditioner whore, that is a lot! American Cream was inspired by the 1950's American Teenagers who would go on Saturday night dates to milkshake bars and all the scents that are affiliated with that kind of scenario. Far fetched marketing ploy? Maybe. Yummy smelling hair product? Defo!

This conditioners smells creamy (quel surprise), vanillary and super sweet. When I first put it on a few weeks back, I actually said "mmmmm" outloud in the shower like a total loser! It has a thick consistency which makes it easy to apply, and doesn't have that coating-my-hair-with-a-layer-of-plastic feel to it like some conditioners do.

I usually leave it on a few minutes whilst I venus my legs and exfoliate, and then rinse it off and comb through my hair in the shower. As someone who is cursed with uber thick, frizzy hair, this stuff is brilliant for detangling and smoothing.

Once out of the shower my hair is noticeably softer and easier to style and the smell lingers for AGES. I think this is my new favourite product and I shall be repurchasing the largest size bottle next week for £12.25.

Thank you to the ever wonderful Becky from Lush for sending these gems and thank you to my sister-in-law to be, who sent me a Lush voucher for my birthday last week, I think we all know how that's being spent :)

Have you tried any of the Lush hair care range? What were your thoughts?

Lou's Reviews- Cellnique by B*liv Skincare

Aloha Bloggerinos!

A couple of days ago whilst I was off work poorly-sick (or should I have written pooey-sick- urgh I know, but we've all been there I'm sure!!), a big parcel came in the post that filled me with glee! It was a stash of Cellnique goodies from Selina at b*liv who had emailed me a little while before asking if I would do an honest review of the products sent, and that I shall do!

Here is what Cellnique says:

Pronounce as ‘believe‘, b•liv has the impeccable pedigree of being the creation of Asia‘s most effective paramedical salon brand -- Cellnique Paramedical, a brand that has emerged as one of the problematic skin expert amongst the industry over the past 12 years. Read more on www.cellnique.com
Originally named "Cellnique Pro-Series", the brand was renamed to better reflect its objective of catering for confident, stylish, dynamic and on-the-go youth with a skincare regimen made specifically for them.

I was quite impressed by the initial contact as Selina was thoughful enough to ask what sort of skin type I had so that she could send me products more tailored to my requirements. I explained that I quite thirsy skin and that I moisturise a lot. The products I was sent were: a sample of "Shield Me sunblock", a full sized bottle of "Quench Me moisturising gel", a full sized bottle of "Drench Me moisturising cleansing gel", a "Leach Me moisturising mask" (leaches?!) and a cute b*liv tote bag that says "together we can save our earth" and has a pretty tree motif on it (this will be one of those handy bags I'll use to take stuff to work in that doesn't fit in my handbag-woop woop thanks b*liv!).

My first impression of these items was that the packaging was encouraging as it was simple yet professional. Personally, I prefer the packaging styles of Benefit or Soap and Glory because of it's shelf appeal, but I think this look gives off a "clean" image and I suppose that is something you would want from products that cleanse and moisturise your face!

The website is good, which items colour coded so that you can see what sort of range you should go for, ie, Blue is for products geared towards dry skin whereas orange is for oily skintypes.

Now, so far, I have only tried the Drench Me and Quench Me gels and I have mixed feelings about them really.

So this was the first product I tried- Drench Me, $25 which is probably about £15ish. You will see from the first picture that it has a pump applicator (my camera battery was on it's last legs when I took these pics so I literally had to snap and go) and very 'clean' looking packaging. I love the applicator because it makes using this product with wet hands a doddle.

The cleansing gel comes out a clear-amber colour and you apply it to a wet face and rub in to make a lather. On the back it says to use 1-2 pea-sized drops, which I did and found that whilst it did make a soapy effect on my skin, it didn't really lather. I washed this off with a wet flannel and felt that I needed to repeat the process to get a really good result. The smell was enjoyable, a non perfumed fresh kind of scent, very unoffensive. To it's credit, it did remove my skin and eye makeup, but on the other hand, I didn't have a great deal on in the first place.

On the packaging, it suggests using this 2-3 times a day. I think if you weren't ovely busy you could manage this 2-3 times daily but I certainly wouldn't cart it around in my handbag to use at work/whilst out and about, and being as I did this twice, I'm not too inclined to do it twice a day either. It's more of a do-in-the-shower kind of product if you ask me.

If I had to compare this to something, I would say it's like the Clinique liquid soap. I think it has a lot of qood qualities and I will continue to use it (once a day in the shower) but there were a couple of things I really didn't enjoy. The first was that as soon as I had used it, my skin instantly felt VERY tight. I'm not sure if this is just my skin playing up or not but I was literally scrabbling to get the Quench Me open to alleviate the tightness.

The second point, which isn't a negative to the actual product, is the wording on the back. I think it is one of those cases where the meaning has gotten a little lost in translation because phrases like "Drench Me is a balm for faces soiled and dry", don't really work too well. The word 'soiled' makes me think of soiled baby nappies :(

The second product I tried was the Quench Me moisturising gel which retails at $38 which I think would be about £25ish. I found the packaging very professional. Its a pleasant looking bottle within a card box that has a clear plastic sleeve. The wording on the back reads a little more smoothly than the Drench Me item, so this is another thumbs up.

The bottle has a pump applicater that I enjoy and gives the product a more luxurious feel. The bottle recomemends using a 2-3 pea sized amount but because my skin is a thirsty little bugger, I used a lot more. The scent was the same as the cleanser which is good because it all matches.

Initially I liked the feel of this and thought I was on to a winner, but alas, after a few minutes, I wanted to put my Lush Dream Cream on. On the plus side, the moisturising gel goes on easily and sinks in quickly (maybe because me skin was absolutely gagging for it after the Drench Me tho!). It isn't sticky or greasy and does finish well. The box says the gel "ensures your cell revitalisation process runs without interuption", so that's a brucey bonus eh!

I've not yet tried the mask and sunblock, but as soon as I do, I will let you know my thoughts.

Overall, I didn't think these products were fantastical, but they weren't terrible, just somewhere in the middle. Perhaps if they bought out a different range or improved them slightly, I would be interested in buying some and trying again.

Thank you Cellnique for the opportunity to try this range, I very much appreciate it.

Happy Birthday Ceri!

Well Bloggerinos, you may have read my post a few days ago about Bows, Pearls and Gorgeous Girls (it was after my MAC GIVEAWAY- which is still open woop woop) which was our night out for Ceri's 24th. As tomorrow is her officical birthday, here are a few photographs of her presents from me. Obviously I shan't be doing a review, but thought you might enjoy the eye candy :)

The much blogged about Bohemian Sleek eyeshadow palette. These aren't really my colours but Ceri loved it. Job well done!

I bought her a few other bits and bobs too but I didn't want to bore you!

I think we can safely say she's a very lucky girl. Have a lovely day Ceri!

My Lush Assistant

As many of you may know, dear Bloggerinos, I have been more than a little blessed in the Lush department of late. I was sent an enmormous box of Lush products from the gorgeous Becky from Liverpool Lush, and also, my own Lush store has been topping me up with a few little soapy samples each time I go in.

From time to time, (but not too often because I'm far to selfish with my lovely Lush things!ha!) I let someone give me a hand and try the products and tell me what they thought. This works well because I get a different view and in the end, enables me to give my Bloggerinos and Youtuberinos a more rounded review.

Here is Milo from my office who has kindly tried out Demon in the Dark soap and Cosmetic Lad moisturiser- reviews coming soon.

Thanks Milo!!

From Lush with Love

Yesterday morning I was planning on having a disgustingly long lay in and languishing in my freshly on sheets. Is there anything better than clean sheets? However, at 7.30am there was a knock at the door. Who on earth comes round at 7.30am on a Saturday?? Postman Pat!! I shlepped back to bed with a very heavy box and wide awake with excitement. I opened it up and it was a GIANT BOX OF LUSH GOODIES, BAAABBYY!!

The extra fantabulous Becky from Liverpool had seen my blog and youtube reviews and as she works at Lush, she very kindly picked me a selection of items that she says she feels are sometimes overlooked and are very special. This is by far the best thing that has ever come through the post! I counted and there are 19 items in there and I shall be reviewing at least 18 of them- one is a top secret Lush item- oh la la!

I think I shall review all items on my youtube channel but I shall review a select few on my bloggypops :)
I can't thank Becky enough for this very generous Lushy gift. She is a cosmetics and beauty wizz- she even has her own eBay shop called Tans and Talons. I have had a good mooch around it and it is AMAZING! She sells all BioSculpture and Fake Bake items and I have got my beady little eye on the nail art brushes (they look luurrrvvly) and the nail art glitter is now on my wishlist. The prices all look really reasonable and I think come payday, I shall have a little shop. For all you bronzed goddesses and gorgeous nailed gals, here is a link to he fabbydabby shop- http://members.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=what_a_bling

It will take me a little while to get through all the Lou's Reviews so keep checking back. Here is a list (in no particular order) of all the wonderful products I received:

1. Sympathy For The Skin Body Lotion
2. Whoosh Shower Jelly
3. Cosmetic Lady Facial Moisturiser
4. Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter
5. Vanilla Puff Powder
6. Angels On Bare Skin Cleanser
7. Mask Of Magnaminity Face Mask

Space Girl, Ma Bar and Sugarbomb, Baby!

Yesterday, the ever lovely Fiance decided to take time out from working in his little green office (you will know it from my videos on youtube) and took me on a fun day out.

As they say, the way to a Taureans heart is through their stomache (urgh that sounds gross actually!) and so it was! He took me out to breakfast at this very cool American Diner type place that we enjoy to frequent (oh lala) and then we hit the open road and zoomed off to Milton Keynes!

We had such a nice day wandering round and just having some much needed "us" time. He was very patient and let me drag him round all the makeup counters and even bought me a few bits! Perfect!

We popped into Lush and came out with:

I was only going to get the Ma Bar after seeing it on a video by Zoella (look her up! She has a fab blog and has done a couple of videos too!) but then as usual, I was drawn like a moth to a flame to the bath ballistics.

I nearly bought the Supernova one because I love the scent and the ticker tape stuff that comes out in the bath and makes it all colourful and happy, but then Space Girl caught my eye. I have never seen a bath ballistic in this shape and I loved that it has glitter on it. I'm a sucker for some sparkle! I'm looking forward to using both of these and will let you know how I got on :)

I had originally picked up a few bits from GOSH in Superdrug but whilst in Boots, I saw the Benefit counter and the lady was so lovely and gave me a little makeover and told me all about Sugarbomb blush/bronzer powder and I decided to return my GOSH goodies and buy the Sugarbomb powder. It came with a cute little brush and as always, I loved the packaging. The pigment is great in each of the four colours and the brush is uber soft. This is the first Benefit powder I have bought because they are £23.50 and I have always shyed away from the price, but I figured that being as I was getting four colours for the price of one then it was OK :) If I had had more mula, I would have bought Hula too!

I also bought the Play Sticks foundation because I was in need of one and the lady who showed me it, was wearing it too and her skin looked fantabulous! She even let me take a little picture with her, so if you find my blog, please comment and say hello Benefit Lady! Also, check out the funky box she gave me! Woop woop.

I made a little video of my thoughts on these products on my youtube channel (Sprinkleofglitter), so do have a little looksee :)

As per, I came home with a selection of terrific samples which I shall try and review for you. Techinically the Sanex wasn't a sample, there was a lady at as stand just handing them all out and I'm never one to say no to a freebie! Do you get good samples? Tell me about them because I luurrrvvee a good sample!

All in all it was another good day :) (ahhh how smushy!)

Looking forward to hearing you sample stories and what you think of Sugarbomb if you have tried it.

Bubblegum Lips for a Bubblegum Gal!

Aloha Bloggerinos! I say "Aloha" because I'm in such a fruitytooty mood after using my new favourite Lush product.

Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub is £4.50 for a 45g glass pot/jar. I love love love that it comes in a glass pot because most things nowadays come in plastic and this makes it feel lovely and heavy. I don't know why I like that so much but I do!

I have done a little review on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4abdT55184 so I shan't go into the ins and outs of my thoughts when you can enjoy them much more this way.

What I failed to mention in this vlog (video blog! woop!) was how yummy tasting this stuff is! As well as leaving your lips smooth, exfoliated and kissable, it leaves a gorgeous sweet taste lingering on them. The Fiance is going to be one lucky boy!!

The Leaning Tower of Samples

When I woke up this morning, my first thought was not "urgh, time to get up", oh no! It was "wooooo time to use my new Happy Hippy Lush shower gel!!". Yes, this is super sad and yes I am developing a slightly unhealthy obsession with Lush products but there we are, better than some things I suppose. Eek!

I have recently made a youtube review of my latest Lush samples. Check it out at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdaFfb12U18 . I cannot express to you how much I LOVE LOVE bloody well LOOOOOVVEE it when I get samples from Lush. They are so generous (the ladies that give them out) and are always willing to chat about the products. 9 out of 10 times, I go back and buy the products, but I think it shows that Lush really value their customers if they are happy and willing to give you little freebies- they know you will be enticed back by the amazingness of  them!

So, the products I reviewed were Happy Hippy shower gel, The Olive Branch shower gel, Helping Hands moisturiser and Handy Gurugu moisturiser. I shan't go into the ins and outs here because my thoughts are on the video (link above) and for the proper scientific jargon, check out the Lush website http://www.lush.co.uk/  :)

I do have a couple of guest stars on my video, including the famous Issobelle, so I hope you enjoy the extra cute factor from her!

Youtube, I have Arrived!

Well bloggerinos, in an attempt to jazz up my blog, I have inadvertantly changed ALL my settings and thorougly bamboozled myself. So, first of all, apologies for the changes. You may actually like it, but as a Taurean, I'm still getting used to it. Hopefully you will too xx.

So, slightly late for the new year, I'm having a new string to my bow and branching into beauty- a beautiful branch haha. I will be doing little reviews and sharing my ponderings and insight, so I hope that tickles your fancy. I will still be true to my crafting heart and posting my creations, so for all you stitchers, fear not! I'm still here!

Sooooooo, without further adu, here is a link to my first ever youtube video about Lush products. I did a little off the cuff review on a few things I have aquired lately. Please watch it and rate it and comment and all that caper- but be kind, it's my first attempt! Ooooo it's all very exciting I tell ya!

Happy Viewings!
