Motivational Monday #9

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

So, it's Monday. Yay! The start of a new week and the opportunity to turn over a fresh leaf.

Motivational Quote or Saying

This week I've gone for an oldie but newie. An old saying that I typography'd myself-go me. Feel free to pin this onto your pinterest boards

It's a simple fact that sometimes, life throws up problems and issues that can be hard to deal with. Perhaps you are going through some financial hardship or a breakup. Perhaps you just feel pretty low at the moment and don't know what to do. Perhaps you have a big decision to make and you're finding it difficult.

Whatever your 'lemon' is, you have to choose what to do with it. You can dwell on it and let it stew and get yourself in a dither and tizz, or you can think about what you could do to make the very best out of the situation, 'make lemonade'.

Hard up on money at the moment? Have a movie night with those DVD's that are gathering dust or use up those lingering bottles of bubble bath. Going through a breakup? Use this time to see more of your friends and family and people who make you laugh. A big decision? Research it and talk to people you know have your best interests at heart and enjoy the learning process.

Try, try, try to see the good in a situation. EG. "I have no money to go out" = "I can spend more time at home with Matt having cosy nights in". OR "I have a tough choice to make and I hate it" = "I know I'm going to make a decision that will better my life in the long run and this excites me".

I know it's twee and optimistic but I promise you, if you look for it, there is good in almost everything. I find that by focusing on that aspect, you feel a whole lot better about your life and the weights of the world feel a great deal lighter.

Why not try it for one week and see how you feel? Have you turned any lemons into lemonade recently? Tell me in the comments.

Family Day Date

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Sometimes the very best dates are the ones you have no idea are going to happen. Obviously, as a girly girl I love the primp and process of preparing for a romantic date with a man type, but nowadays, I find myself on more and more fun family dates, and that's cool with me.

The other day, after running round completing the dullest errands of all time (fancy shlepping round homebase for a new shower anyone??), Matt and I decided to treat ourselves to a really nice late lunch/early dinner.

Fortunately, I had my camera on me (I'm making such an effort to take it more places with us) and took a few snaps. They're not professional and they're not all totally focused but I like them. They're full of life and memories and happy. I like happy.

Darcy refused to sit in her high chair the entire time so she shared mine and Matthew's lap. It's nice to be so wanted.

I love the way Darcy looks at her Daddy. Total adoration.

Since enjoying all the foods in America, the land of enormous portions, I tried to be a bit good.

Thirsty Barbie baby. Don't worry, it was a virgin cocktail. Mummy's always have a few toys in their handbags for times like this. I bought these Barbie babies (I think? Or maybe Barbie sister's??) at Walmart in Florida. Oh man I like Walmart. My little pony's were under $3!!

Oooohh I do love a good lifestyle post. I'm so pleased that this is a beauty AND lifestyle blog so that I have the freedom to document moments of my life like this and share them with you. It brings me so much happiness.

I think I would like to make more of a concerted effort to a) go to nice places with my family and b) take my big camera and snap away.

Do you do spontaneous little things like this? Would you ever consider photographing them even if they weren't that 'special'?

American Baby Goodies

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

What Mummy can have a super trip to America and not come back with lovely goodies for the cutest toddler in town? Not this one that's for sure.

Over the course of the trip I picked up a few bits and bobs (she was also kindly gifted some by viewers) and I tell you, it was like Christmas had come again when I brought her in to show her them!

Now, I get that this is a touch excessive, but I couldn't help it. I don't go away too often so it was nice to have a splurge and treat her. I don't think I'll ever want to stop. Also, My Little Pony's were under $3 and that's just crazy street.

The funfetti stuff is for her birthday this weekend. I've heard so much about funfetti that I just had to give it a whirl. It seems very novel and cool, who wouldn't want sprinkles in their cake??

So far, the little tiny Barbie sisters are her favourites, she's been clutching them for days! I'm holding the big Barbie back for a while (too much too soon) and that purple bouncy ball flashes when you throw it- best $1 I've ever spent!!

Do you see any childhood favourites? Any tips for funfetti cake?
