The 30 Day Snap

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

With 9 days to go, I'm already thinking ahead to June and dreaming up ideas and new features. I love it.

30 Day Snap Sprinkleofglitter

Every day, for 30 days, I will snap one photograph of my day and upload it here. I will still be uploading all my regular content too so you'll have twice as much to read and (hopefully) enjoy. I would also absolutely love it if you were to join me in this challenge too. If you don't have a blog, you could do it on Facebook or even instagram/twitter. The world is your online oyster.

I think this will be so fun because it will allow us to really look for the lovely things in our days, stretch our creativity and maybe even expand our photography skills. It will also be really nice for the Sprinkle of Glitter community to have a nosey at each others lives and make new blog friends.

The rules are simple. Upload one photograph every day. It doesn't have to be a work of art, it doesn't have to be of anything magnificent. A large proportion of mine will no doubt be of little things happening around my house, since that's where I spend 90% of my time. You don't need to use a state of the art camera and you don't need to get worked up, you just have to take and upload one picture a day. If you would like to write a little bit about it or tell the story behind it then go for it. If you think an image says a thousand words then that's your call too. Easy!

I have made this little button for those of you that fancy taking part and I hope by letting you know about this a week in advance that you have some time to get yourself together. If you're anything like me, you like a little while to get used to new commitments- even if they are just for fun! You are welcome to display this button on your blog and link it back here so people know what you are doing but it isn't compulsory. You are also welcome to take today's main image if you would like to do a little intro post, but again, it's not compulsory. I would ask though that if you do, you credit this blog for it.

So, I would like to 'tag' all of you reading to take part. Hopefully you will spread the word further and even more people will document their lives, expand their creativity and learn new camera skills- Rargh I'm EXCITED!!

In particular I would like to tag El from AThriftyMrs (since she started this whole brain wave), Marie from PickleBeanBooks (but only if she is feeling well enough with her tough pregnancy) and Zoe from Zoella because her photography is to die for!

What do you say? Are you up for the challenge? If you are, see you on June 1st!

Motivational Monday #15

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Merry Monday one and all. Let's look ahead to the great week we are all going to have.

Motivational Monday

I chose 'Focus on What Matters' this week because it is something I have been doing a little more lately and have been absolutely loving.

Our lives are packed to the brim with STUFF. Jobs, partners, parents, children, housework, paperwork, grocery shopping, social lives, wishes, holidays, days out, days in, good moments, sad moments, celebratory moments, literally EVERYTHING.

With all that going on, it can be really hard to see what's important and what's just 'life fluff'. For example, I often feel really pressured to have a clean and tidy house in case a visitor or neighbour pops by because I don't want to be judged as scatty. So, even though Darcy wants to play with me, I set her down with an activity and leave her to it whilst I get on with house chores to alleviate this self afflicted pressure to be perfect (which I never achieve anyway). What's important here? Making sure my surfaces are shiny so my Auntie doesn't think, 'Ooh some crumbs' or playing with my child? It's obvious right? Only when we're in the thick of things, it isn't. The lines of what importance's can become blurred and we miss the point.

This week I have some homework for you. In the comments, share with us 3 things that are MOST important to you. Once you have written them here, spend a few minutes thinking about why they are most important, what your life would be like without those three things and what you are going to do to focus your efforts a little bit more on them. The things don't have to be particular people like your spouse or parents, they could be 'Helping the planet more/spending more time at church/focusing on eating more healthy food/giving myself a break/putting more money in my savings account' etc. They just have to be things that MATTER.

I think that once we focus a little more on things that matter to our lives, our sense of well being increases, we feel more satisfied with our lives and thus, more motivated to achieve what we set out to and be happy. And let's face it, isn't happiness the ultimate goal?

Flamingos and Floaty Skirts

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Last week Darcy and I pootled off on an adventure to Coton Manor Gardens with my Auntie Rose, or 'Wose' as Baby Glitter calls her.

In a nutshell, Coton Manor is a gorgeous ye olde house with the most beautiful gardens you have ever seen- and I'm not even an outdoors kinda gal. With secret ponds and water features, statues, windy paths, herb gardens, ornamental birds, pigs, horses, bluebell woods, and a stable yard cafe, it's just idyllic.

As you walk around, the animals just wander free like something out of a film. You can stand right next to flamingos, have afternoon tea with a parrot and watch as a mummy mallard and her tiny ducklings scuttle passed your feet. Darcy thought it was all brilliant.

I didn't think I was going to be that bothered by the place and partly just agreed to go to take an interest in my Auntie Rose's pursuits but I'm SO glad I did. It's so easy to be swept up in the hustle and bustle of life and work and chores, but to step away for an afternoon and wander around a peaceful, tranquil place where everything seems so relaxed, was just bliss.

The other part of deciding to go was because I thought it might make an interesting blog post for this week's Friday lifestyle feature so I suppose I have you lovely lot to thank. If I didn't have this blog and hadn't starting doing a weekly lifestyle thing then I might've missed out.

I think this is a lovely place to go with people or on your own with a book or just to sit and contemplate a little. It was like a mixture of The Secret Garden and Alice In Wonderland.

Have you been here or anywhere like it before?
